Rainbow Book
Making colourblindness visible. The task at school was to conceive and design a series of books using only two colours per book. We were free to choose the theme, title and text. In each book, the rainbow is depicted in the colour spectrum that a colour-blind person can perceive.
Book 1 (left) is about red-green colour blindness.
Book 2 (middle) is about blue blindness.
Book 3 (right) is about total colour blindness.
How do colour-blind people perceive the world? Red-green colour blindness – Red and green tones can no longer be distinguished.
Blue blindness – Frequent confusion of the colours red with orange, blue with green, green-yellow with grey as well as violet and light yellow.
Colour blindness – Complete lack of colour perception. A world of nothing but shades of grey. Colour-blind people have no idea what the diversity of colours in our world looks like.
